Dear Enoch,
How are you doing? Its been a while since you replied me. So, I decided to tell you what I have been doing.
Recently, the school organized a Geography trail to Lower Seletar Reservoir. It had been my first time to that reservoir, so I had been fascinated by the facilities provided there and the many different places they have. In the reservoir, we could do various things, such as, fishing, canoeing, picnicking, sight-seeing and even golfing!
The reservoir was also home to many kinds of animals and plants, like the butterflies, fishes, coconuts, kingfishers, etc. Other than serving as a habitat for animals and being a recreational ground for people to relax in, it is also a water catchment area that helps provide the water we consume. To filter most of the rubbish like leaves and human wastes, there is a litter trap that traps all the leaves and waste materials and prevents them from introducing bacteria into the reservoir. There are also other unique places in this reservoir. An example would be the viewing gallery at the Heritage panel. The viewing deck is designed to resemble a fishing net to remind the people that Singapore was once a fishing village. The family bay is also an interesting place as there are fountains there to see. Apart from those two places, there is also the fishing jetty and the rain garden. In case you do not know what is the rain garden, it is actually a place where they plant plants that could help filter the water and absorb excessive nutrients like nitrogen and phosphorus.Well, that’s Lower Seletar Reservoir for you. Hope to receive your reply soon!
Sincerely,
Group 4
